ICE Engineering & Construction proudly secure its second consecutive Smelter Campaign Maintenance shutdown (SCM21) for BHP at Olympic Dam in South Australia.

ICE Engineering & Construction previously delivered the Electrical and Instrumentation Scope of Work for the SCM17 almost 4 years ago.

ICE will deliver the following Scope of Work packages for SCM21,
• Completion of the detailed Construction Work packs and Bill of Materials
• The Electrical & Instrumentation Scope of Work for Hot Metals and Non-Hot Metals
• The installation of Temporary Power for the complete smelter on all levels

SCM21 officially starts on June 1st and will continue until December 2021, although ICE has been involved in the ECI phase (Early Contractor Involvement) with Bechtel for the past 12 months. ICE estimates it will employ an additional 150 additional Electrical Trades People to carry out the services required.

ICE has over 20 years of experience in the Industrial Mining Sector, having delivered multiple complex Brownfields Projects and Shutdown Services for its clients. ICE is a Specialist Electrical and Instrumentation Contractor with the capability and capacity to work in remote areas of Australia that require a fly in fly out labour pool.
