Lighting Upgrade
BB Print Stadium Mackay
This project formed part of the Mackay Regional Council’s commitment to providing world-class sporting facilities. Funded under the Queensland Government’s 2022-24 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program, the works addressed the ageing and non-compliant lighting at BB Print Stadium Mackay, a 12,000-capacity venue used for rugby league, international events, concerts, and televised fixtures.
MUSCO Lighting completed the design for the new LED lighting system and engaged Corfield’s Electrical to deliver the site electrical and installation scope, working closely with engineering and crane crews to remove the existing lighting and install the upgraded system.
Scope of Works Completed:
- Completed all pre-execution establishment activities, including site setup and mobilisation.
- Prepared and implemented safety management plans, traffic management plans, and all required safety documentation.
- Organised and coordinated subcontractors for specialised tasks.
- Managed the removal and re-installation of the headframes at the top of each lighting pole in conjunction with crane crews.
- Installed additional conductors to newly installed distribution boards at each pole.
- Provided commissioning support to MUSCO Lighting, including assistance with aiming, testing, and final system verification.
Upon completion, the stadium achieved significantly improved night-time lighting quality, meeting broadcast-quality standards for professional sports and major events, while delivering reduced maintenance and energy costs.
